Understanding the Florida EOC 30% Requirement

Under Florida Statute s. 1008.22, statewide standardized End-of-Course (EOC) assessments must constitute 30 percent of the student's final course grade in the following subjects:

The remaining 70 percent is calculated from the student's coursework performance (Semester 1 and Semester 2 grade averages).

Final Grade = ( Coursework Average × 0.70 ) + ( EOC Score × 0.30 )

This statutory formula applies to all public school districts across Florida, including Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Broward County Public Schools, Hillsborough County, Orange County Public Schools, Palm Beach County, and Duval County.

Frequently Asked Questions

What score is required to pass the Florida Algebra 1 EOC?
To pass the Algebra 1 EOC graduation requirement, students must achieve an achievement level of Level 3 or higher. For calculating your course letter grade, your converted scale score is factored into the 30% calculation.
What happens if I fail the EOC but have a high coursework average?
Because coursework makes up 70% of your grade, students with high coursework marks (such as 85% or higher) often still earn a passing overall course grade (C) even if their EOC performance is lower. However, passing the Algebra 1 assessment is independently required for a standard high school diploma.
