Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 30% rule work in Florida high schools?
Florida high school students must have their EOC score calculate as 30% of their overall final grade. Quarters 1-4 make up the remaining 70%. If you have an 80% leading into the EOC and score a 70% on the EOC, your final grade will be (80 × 0.70) + (70 × 0.30) = 56 + 21 = 77% (C).
What is considered a passing score on an EOC?
In most states, state assessments are scored on achievement levels from 1 to 5, where Level 3 or higher represents grade-level proficiency. In standard percentage conversion, a 70% or higher is commonly recognized as passing.
Do I need to pass the EOC to graduate?
In states like Florida and Texas, passing the Algebra 1 and Biology EOCs is a statutory graduation requirement. If you do not pass, retake opportunities are offered during subsequent testing windows.
